The x402 protocol, developed by Coinbase, has officially launched on the Arbitrum network, facilitating AI-driven microtransactions. This protocol allows AI agents to directly pay for APIs, services, and software using stablecoins, leveraging the unused HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status code. Managed by the x402 Foundation under the Linux Foundation, the protocol is supported by over 20 organizations, including Cloudflare, Stripe, AWS, Google, Visa, Base, Circle, and the Solana Foundation.
