A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences highlights that Elon Musk's AI-generated encyclopedia, Grokipedia, relies more on right-leaning sources than Wikipedia for sensitive topics such as religion, history, literature, and art. Conducted by researchers from Trinity College Dublin and Technological University Dublin, the study analyzed around 18,000 English-language Wikipedia pages and their Grokipedia counterparts, noting a significant divergence in source selection on culturally charged subjects. Grokipedia, launched in October 2025, is non-editable and uses xAI's models to generate content, contrasting with Wikipedia's community-driven editing model. The study also points out that Grokipedia tends to cite sources with lower overall credibility, adding a political dimension to existing concerns about its sourcing practices.
