Standard Chartered has begun offering custody services for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin in Dubai and is planning to integrate the token as collateral on the LMAX exchange. The initiative aims to provide institutional clients with regulated custody connected to a global systemically important bank while expanding RLUSD’s utility beyond payments into institutional trading collateral systems. The move builds on Ripple’s $150 million financing of LMAX in January to embed RLUSD into the group's infrastructure. Standard Chartered continues to expand its digital asset footprint, having recently announced crypto custody in Singapore and becoming the first bank to distribute a regulated stablecoin in Hong Kong. Industry participants note that regulated custody linked to major banks is becoming critical infrastructure for institutional digital asset adoption.
