The median cost of sending a $200 remittance via stablecoins is just 1%, or approximately $2, compared to 6.36% ($12.72) for traditional methods, according to Borderless.xyz's latest Q3 report. This represents an 84% cost reduction, with even greater savings in emerging markets where Sub-Saharan Africa sees fees of 2.9% versus 8.46% traditionally, and Latin America records 1.25% against 5.64%. Corporate cross-border payments show similar efficiency gains, with $10,000 transfers to the eurozone costing as little as $26 via stablecoins compared to $135–$150 for traditional bank wires. Settlement times are also significantly faster, with Brazil's PIX network averaging 2 minutes and Mexico's SPEI taking 3 minutes, while SWIFT transfers typically require until the next business day. The report indicates that growing transaction activity continues to establish stablecoins as an increasingly vital infrastructure for international payments.
