An anonymous account known as "swisstony" has emerged as Polymarket's most profitable trader, generating approximately $12 million in profit since April 2026 through a high-frequency sports betting strategy. According to a Financial Times analysis, the account built 184,000 positions across 113,112 markets with cumulative bets totaling $657 million, achieving an average return of just under 2% per bet. This stands in contrast to other top-10 accounts, which profited primarily through a small number of large bets often exceeding $1 million each. The analysis revealed that among users wagering more than $100, 68% lost money and 4% lost their entire principal. Sports betting remains Polymarket's primary revenue driver, while crypto price prediction markets have also gained traction, recording $5.1 billion in wagering volume during the period. Polymarket stated it monitors large positions and high-risk markets for manipulation, employing sanctioned wallet screening and partnering with firms like Chainalysis to oversee activity.
