The Polkadot Community Foundation has submitted a new strategic proposal via OpenGov to redirect the ecosystem's focus toward end-user growth, the launch of dotUSD, and the development of a comprehensive product platform. The initiative marks a shift from competing with other smart contract platforms to targeting Web2 and mobile internet products, prioritizing user acquisition over metrics like total value locked or ecosystem size. Technical teams will retain implementation autonomy but must align with these DAO-approved strategic objectives. The proposal introduces "dotStables," a permissionless system featuring stable-value derivatives like dotUSD collateralized by DOT, designed to convert demand for stable assets into demand for the native token. Additionally, the planned Polkadot Product Platform will expand beyond parachain infrastructure to include data storage, user interaction, and product distribution capabilities. The strategy emphasizes Web2-grade user experiences through freemium models, non-crypto identifiers, and mobile-first design while preserving core Web3 principles such as self-sovereignty and privacy.
