Latvia-based cryptocurrency platform Paybis has obtained two significant licenses from Latvijas Banka, enhancing its regulatory standing within the European Union. The licenses, granted on May 12 to SIA Paybis Europe, include a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (CASP) license and a PSD2 payment institution license. This development positions Paybis as the third Latvian firm to achieve MiCA compliance, allowing it to offer a range of crypto services, including custody, exchange, and advisory services, alongside regulated payment capabilities.
Paybis CEO Innokenty Isers highlighted the dual licensing as a strategic move to broaden the company's offerings, particularly in stablecoin collaboration. Co-founder Konstantins Vasilenko revealed plans to launch a white-label crypto infrastructure stack for business clients, integrating crypto services with regulated payment systems. This initiative aims to facilitate non-crypto firms in providing crypto services without building their own regulatory frameworks. Paybis, founded in 2014, supports 90 cryptocurrencies and serves seven million users globally, underscoring its commitment to expanding its EU footprint.
