Goldman Sachs has barred most employees from using advanced artificial intelligence tools designed for programming, restricting access exclusively to engineers following a productivity and risk assessment. The bank had previously allowed bankers to use Anthropic's Claude Code and Microsoft's GitHub Copilot at work. The restriction has drawn discontent from traders who relied on these AI tools to accelerate tasks such as monitoring client trading flows, modeling market changes and positions, and generating text and graphic content.
