The Department of Justice has arrested two individuals accused of facilitating a fraudulent employment scheme involving North Korean IT workers targeting U.S. companies. Prosecutors allege the operation affected more than 70 American employers and generated approximately $3 million in illicit revenue. According to the indictment, cryptocurrency was utilized as one method for transferring the proceeds overseas. The arrests mark the latest enforcement action against schemes where North Korean nationals allegedly obtain remote tech jobs at U.S. firms under false identities to generate revenue for the regime.
