Mochatrade, an India-focused trading platform backed by Y Combinator, has raised a total of $5.56 million to offer perpetual contracts tied to US stock prices. The seed round was led by CoinFund with participation from Coinbase Ventures and Zero Knowledge Ventures general partner Nicky Montana. A prior $690,000 pre-seed round was backed by Y Combinator and Pioneer Fund, with YC's $500,000 investment arriving earlier this month in USDC on Base.
The platform enables Indian users to deposit funds via UPI and trade leveraged contracts on companies such as Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple without holding shares or opening a US brokerage account. Currently in beta testing, Mochatrade plans a public launch within weeks. Proceeds will fund trading technology and customer growth, with future expansion into US stock options, additional assets, and social trading features.
