Numeraire (NMR), the Numerai hedge fund's token, closed at $14.0881 on 28 September 2026 after a 36.32% jump on CoinGecko. Reaching the $17.13 close of 3 October 2025 takes another 21.6% rise, and a fall to the $6.28 low of 8 April 2025 means a 55.4% drop. Our Numeraire price prediction sets the 2026 base case at $9.07 to $14.09.
The last time NMR's 14-day RSI ran this hot was 27 August 2025, a day after JPMorgan secured $500 million of capacity in Numerai's fund. RSI peaked at 86.01 that day, and NMR fell 69.98% from its $21.0009 close to $6.3039 by 29 March 2026. The 28 September bar took RSI to 85.04, and Numerai's blog showed no post after 1 September when we read it on 29 September.

What Is Numeraire?
Numeraire is the Ethereum token that data scientists stake on the stock-market models they submit to Numerai, a hedge fund based in San Francisco. Numerai's site invites them to stake on a model "to earn (or burn) cryptocurrency". A model that predicts well earns NMR, and one that doesn't loses part of its stake. Numerai then combines thousands of those models into one meta model that steers its global equity fund.
The Numeraire crypto token began trading in June 2017, and CoinMarketCap's daily series opens on 23 June that year. CoinGecko's coin record counted about 7.15 million NMR in circulation on 29 September 2026, so the anchor close values that supply at about $100.8 million. Our explainer on Numeraire, the AI crypto powering a hedge fund covers how the staking and burning work.
Where Is the Numeraire Price After the 28 September Close?
NMR closed the 28 September bar at $14.0881 on CoinGecko and $14.0603 on CoinMarketCap, up 36.32% and 36.81% on the day. On CoinGecko it was the largest one-day gain since the 37.60% of 6 September 2025, and the highest close since the $15.8810 of 9 October 2025.
The move built across the week and the month. If you bought the $9.4619 close of 21 September, you were up 48.89% at the anchor, and the gain from $9.0830 on 29 August was 55.10%. For the year, it ended the bar 46.91% above its 31 December 2025 close of $9.5898. The year-on-year view is weaker, because the anchor stands 14.91% below the $16.5570 close of 28 September 2025.
CoinMarketCap put the bar's intraday high at $15.3536 at 23:37 UTC, 9.2% above its own close, and it logged about $125.3 million of volume. That turnover topped the $107.0 million CoinMarketCap assigned to the entire circulating supply at the close.
What Does Numeraire's Price History Show?
The all-time high depends on which feed you read. CoinGecko's highest close is $88.4439 on 17 April 2021, and its highest intraday print is $93.15 on 16 May 2021. CoinMarketCap also carries launch week, when NMR closed at $101.83 on 24 June 2017 and traded as high as $168.49 the next day. CoinGecko's series begins later, on 13 July 2017.
This forecast uses CoinGecko's closes, and on them the anchor sits 84.07% below the record. The table lines up each peak with the lowest close that followed it.

Each drawdown has been shallower than the one before, and each peak since 2021 has been lower. The 2024 top reached only 58.3% of the 2021 close. The 2021 cycle climbed in two legs, to a then-record $56.01 close on CoinGecko on 12 August 2020 and then to $88.44 in April 2021. Between them NMR fell to $22.17 on 23 December 2020.
The 2026 picture is a recovery from the floor. NMR's lowest close of the year was $6.3039 on 29 March, and the anchor is both its highest close of 2026 and 123.5% above that low, 183 bars later. The best close of the year before the jump was $10.5137 on 5 January.
Numeraire Technical Analysis
Method: every reading below comes from CoinGecko's 3,365 daily closes from 13 July 2017 to 28 September 2026. RSI uses Wilder's 14-bar smoothing, and MACD uses the standard (12,26,9) exponential averages of those closes.
Support
If you're holding from the anchor, the first support is the $10.3348 close of 27 September, with the $10.5137 close of 5 January just above it. Below those come the 50-day average at $9.0746 and the 200-day at $8.7465, and the $8.6411 close of 15 September lies just under both. The deepest support is the 2026 closing low of $6.3039 from 29 March, 55.25% under the anchor.
Resistance
The first ceiling you meet is $15.8810, the 9 October 2025 close and the last time NMR finished above $14.0881. The 28 September bar's own intraday high of $15.3536 on CoinMarketCap stopped short of it. Next comes $17.1349, the 3 October 2025 close and the highest in the 365 bars to the anchor. Above that sits $21.0009, the 27 August 2025 close that capped the JPMorgan spike.
Moving Averages
The 50-day simple average ended the anchor bar at $9.0746 and the 200-day at $8.7465, a 3.75% gap in the shorter average's favor. The close ran 55.25% above the 50-day and 61.07% above the 200-day. Our guide on how to trade crypto with the moving average shows how each line is built.
On CoinGecko the 50-day crossed above the 200-day on 26 June 2026, while CoinMarketCap's closes put that golden cross on 1 July. The cross before it was a death cross on 16 December 2025 on both feeds.
That death cross ended a golden cross CoinGecko printed on 27 August 2025, the same bar as the RSI peak and the cycle-high close. By 16 December NMR had fallen 50.8% to $10.3249, a sequence our explainer on the Bitcoin golden cross and death cross describes in its general form.
RSI and MACD
The 14-day RSI read 85.04 on 28 September, up from 66.70 a bar earlier and the highest since the 86.01 of 27 August 2025. CoinMarketCap's closes give 84.89. Our guide on how to trade Bitcoin with the RSI indicator treats any reading above 70 as overbought.
NMR's RSI has topped 85 in six earlier stretches on CoinGecko's series, the first in November 2017 and the latest in August 2025. It closed lower 180 bars later after every one of them, by between 37.0% and 69.5%. Four of the six readings also marked the highest close of the next 180 bars. The two exceptions came in 2017 and 2019, and they ran up to 75.7% and 40.5% higher before the fall. That record is the precedent this forecast leans on.
MACD finished the bar at 0.5714 against a signal line of 0.2295, for a histogram of +0.3420. The line crossed above its signal on 21 September and stood above zero on every close from 24 August to the anchor. Our guide on how to use the MACD indicator to trade crypto explains why growing histogram bars mean momentum is building.

Our lean is the base case, because NMR's news-driven spikes have faded fast. After the 27 August 2025 peak it lost 15.1% the next day and stood 18.6% lower 30 bars later. The Series C day of 20 November 2025 rose 30.75% and gave back 17.40% on the following bar. If you apply that 30-bar giveback to $14.0881, it lands near $11.47, inside the base range.
The bull case needs a close above $15.8810, NMR's 9 October 2025 close, and then a run at the 52-week high. The bear case needs closes back under the 200-day at $8.7465, 37.9% below the anchor, and the first would be NMR's lowest close since the $8.6411 of 15 September.
Numeraire Price Prediction 2027 to 2030
A numeraire crypto price prediction that reaches 2030 can't rest on indicators. Every range below is a close NMR has printed or its 200-day average, each dated with its feed. NMR has no cycle multiple to project above its record. After the $55.2577 launch-run top of January 2018, its record close on CoinGecko rose only within the 2020-21 advance, to $56.0139 on 12 August 2020 and to $88.4439 on 17 April 2021. The one step between two cycles therefore starts from a launch-period price, so the series offers no completed cycle to measure. From 2028 the bull case stops at the 2021 cycle's intraday high of $93.15 on CoinGecko.

A daily price series can't tell 2029 from 2030, so an NMR coin price prediction for those years shares one set of ranges. Our Numeraire price prediction for 2030 puts the base case at $51.58 to $88.44, a band whose floor is the 9 March 2024 close. Above that floor, NMR last closed on 31 May 2021, at $52.25.
What Could Drive Numeraire Higher or Lower?
JPMorgan's $500 Million of Capacity
On 26 August 2025, Numerai said JPMorgan Asset Management had secured $500 million of capacity in its hedge fund, which had grown to $450 million in assets. The same post put the fund's 2024 net return at 25.45% and said Numerai had repurchased $1 million of NMR. NMR rose 101.47% on CoinGecko that day and another 30.69% the next.
A $30 Million Series C
Numerai raised $30 million in a Series C at a $500 million valuation on 20 November 2025 in a round led by university endowments. The post put assets at about $550 million, up from the $450 million of the JPMorgan post three months earlier.
The Third NMR Buyback
Numerai's 4 August 2026 monthly update reported a third open-market buyback of $1.2 million of NMR. That took repurchases to $3.2 million in under a year, with assets near $700 million. Numerai said the purchases help replenish the treasury that funds its long-term staking and incentive system.
Atomic Blockchain Staking and Signals v3
The 1 September 2026 monthly update says the main tournament switched to Atomic Blockchain Staking and a 60-day payout target for rounds from 28 August. Signals rounds starting on or after 25 September use the new target that came with the v3 "Supernova" dataset, and Numerai paid out $356,930 of NMR in August.
DeAI Day New York
The same update invites readers to join Numerai's Council of Elders at Decentralized AI Day in New York on 10 October 2026, 12 days after the anchor. A Warsaw edition came first on 26 September, and NMR closed 0.91% lower on CoinGecko that day. Our guide to decentralized AI (DeAI) explains the sector the event is named for.
What Are the Risks of Investing in Numeraire?
The token and the fund have split apart. Numerai's reported assets rose from $450 million in its 26 August 2025 post to about $700 million in the 4 August 2026 update. Over the same dates, NMR's CoinGecko close fell 45.9% from $16.07 to $8.70. Buying NMR also doesn't buy you a stake in the fund, which Numerai's own site describes as designed for institutional investors.
Payouts add supply every month. Numerai paid out $345,335 of NMR in July 2026 and $356,930 in August, tokens that data scientists can sell into any rally. Those two months alone came to $702,265, more than half of the $1.2 million third buyback.
The staking rules changed on 28 August, when the main tournament moved to Atomic Blockchain Staking and a new payout target. A flaw in those new contracts would hit the staked NMR that gives the token its use.
The two feeds don't agree on the float. CoinMarketCap counted 7.61 million NMR in circulation on its 28 September bar against CoinGecko's 7.15 million, a gap of about 6% that changes every valuation built on supply.
Is Numeraire a Good Investment?
As a trade from the 28 September close, the record argues for patience, because every earlier RSI reading above 85 on CoinGecko's closes ended lower 180 bars later.
As a long-term holding, NMR is a bet on the tournament that uses it. Numerai's Series C post set out a plan to scale the fund toward $1 billion in assets, but the token needs something narrower, more data scientists staking NMR on their models. Until the price tracks that growth again, we'd size any position for a 55% fall to the two-year low. NMR suits a trader who can take that drawdown, and it doesn't suit anyone who wants the fund's returns.
How to Get Numeraire Exposure
Phemex lists no NMR market. Its NMR/USDT perpetual and NMR/USDT spot pair both carry a Delisted status in the 29 September product list, so there's no live perpetual for you to trade. The canonical token is the Ethereum ERC-20 at 0x1776e1f26f98b1a5df9cd347953a26dd3cb46671, the address CoinGecko lists. NMR's own use is in Numerai's tournament, where staking it means submitting a model, and any route to the token outside Phemex carries the risks above.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Numeraire price prediction for 2026?
Our base case is $9.07 to $14.09, with a bull case of $14.09 to $17.13 and a bear case of $6.30 to $8.75. At the $17.13 top of the bull case, the 7.15 million NMR in circulation would be worth about $122.6 million.
What is the Numeraire price prediction for 2030?
The 2030 ranges are $6.28 to $14.09 for the bear case, $51.58 to $88.44 for the base and $88.44 to $93.15 for the bull. At $88.44, the circulating supply CoinGecko counted on 29 September would be worth about $632.7 million.
Is Numeraire bullish or bearish?
The trend reads bullish on the 50-day and 200-day test, with the golden cross of 26 June 2026 on CoinGecko still in force at the anchor, 94 bars later. The golden cross before it lasted 111 days before the death cross of 16 December 2025.
What is Numeraire's key support?
The $10.3348 close of 27 September is the first support, 26.6% under the anchor. Before that bar, NMR's last close above that level came on 8 July 2026, at $10.3955.
Can Numeraire reach its all-time high again?
Reaching CoinGecko's $88.4439 closing record would take a 527.8% rise from the anchor, and CoinMarketCap's $101.83 launch-week close would need 7.24 times its own anchor close. Before the anchor, NMR's last close above $30 on CoinGecko came on 11 April 2024, at $33.09.
Bottom Line
The precedent says the reading matters more than the reason. In August 2025 NMR had JPMorgan's news behind its RSI peak and still lost 69.98% over the next 214 days. The 28 September bar reached almost the same reading with no Numerai announcement behind it (its blog carried nothing after 1 September), and six earlier trips above 85 all ended lower 180 bars on.
We'd treat $15.8810 as the close that breaks that view. Until NMR finishes a day above it, the 2026 case is the base range of $9.07 to $14.09. A close under the $10.3348 of 27 September would be the first sign the giveback has started.
