What Is Base Chain in Crypto?
Base chain is a layer 2 network for Ethereum, and the README in its code repository on GitHub calls it "a rollup built on Ethereum". That README says Base provides 1-second transactions that cost less than a cent.
A rollup handles transactions away from Ethereum's main chain and posts the results back to it, one of the designs set out in our explainer on how Ethereum layer 2 solutions work. Anyone who runs a Base node has to point it at an Ethereum node as well, according to the same repository.
Every coin on this list is a token contract with a 0x address on Base, the address format Ethereum uses. That format comes from the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
How We Picked These Base Coins
This base ecosystem coins list starts with the 250 largest coins in CoinGecko's Base Native category in late October 2026. Only 56 of them name Base as their sole platform on CoinGecko, and 25 of those were worth at least as much as Sapien, the smallest coin here.
Seven of the 25 aren't project tokens. Four are bridged or wrapped copies of other coins, and three are a stablecoin, an index and a vault token. Of the 18 project tokens left, 12 failed a screen. Four have ties to an exchange or a perpetuals venue. Five have sites naming an exchange or a broker's chain, two are thin and one belongs to another chain.
That leaves six tokens, and DIEM is Venice's second token, so it shares the Venice card.
The cards follow CoinGecko market cap at the late-October close, from $1.18 billion for Venice down to $13.61 million for Sapien.
Venice Token (VVV)
Venice runs a private AI app and a developer API. Venice's API docs say a holder can "stake DIEM or VVV once and earn a fixed inference allowance every day, with no per-call charges," and that allowance is the token's job. The risk is concentration, since the token's use runs through one company's product.
VVV closed late October at $24.21 after a 7.09% drop on the day, leaving it about a quarter below its September 2026 high close. CoinGecko counted 48.69 million VVV in circulation in late October 2026.
The Innovation Game (TIG)
The Innovation Game rewards people who find better algorithms for hard optimisation problems. TIG's documentationsays the protocol "is underpinned by a novel proof-of-work mechanism that allows for optimisation of the proof-of-work algorithms," and miners are paid to find the best-performing ones.
TIG closed late October at $0.5353 and fell 9.55% on the day, the weakest move of the five. Its highest close on CoinMarketCap was $3.791 on 17 December 2024, and the late-October close was 85.88% below it.
CoinMarketCap shows no market cap for TIG, so its size rests on CoinGecko's count of 37.45 million tokens circulating out of a 131.04 million maximum. More than 70% of that maximum wasn't circulating in late October 2026, which leaves room for a lot more supply.
Mey Network (MEY)
Mey Network turns property into tokens through what it calls Property Token Offerings, and our guide to Mey Network's property token offerings and tokenized real estate walks through the model. Mey Network's own documentation calls it "a global tokenized real estate investment platform" for property investment, management and transactions.
MEY closed late October at $0.04809, down 0.58%, and 88.32% under the $0.4118 high close it set on 11 December 2024.
That documentation calls Meychain "The Layer 1 Blockchain" in a section heading, even though CoinGecko lists Base as the MEY token's only platform. The land behind each offering stays off-chain, so a token contract can't enforce its title on its own.
Freysa AI (FAI)
Freysa AI is the token of an AI agent called Freysa. Freysa's page on the FAI token says "FAI launched on Base on November 22, 2024, the day of Freysa's emergence" and caps supply at 8.19 billion tokens. That's "one for each living human at launch," and the page says all of it went into a fair-launch liquidity pool whose LP tokens were burned.
FAI closed late October about flat on the day, up 0.42% on CoinMarketCap and down 0.28% on CoinGecko. Its close of $0.001933 was 97.50% below the high close it set in January 2025, so the price would need to rise about 40-fold to get back there.
The page calls FAI the preferred payment across Freysa's products and says agents will one day spend it on their own, a promise with no date on it. The products themselves get a full rundown in our guide to Freysa and its Sovereign Agent Stack.
Sapien (SAPIEN)
Sapien sells data review to AI teams through a product it calls Proof of Quality. Sapien's page on how Proof of Quality works says human experts set the reference judgments and "AI judges compete to match them" under rules tailored to each dataset.
That page didn't mention the SAPIEN token anywhere in late October 2026.
SAPIEN closed late October at $0.05590 after a 0.75% slip. That left it 83.90% under its November 2025 high close and only 1.39% above the lowest close in its CoinMarketCap history to late October, set in late October 2026.
How Far Are Base Coins From Their Highs?
Four of the five closed between 83.90% and 97.50% under their highest closes, and each of those four set that high within 126 days of its first close on CoinMarketCap. Mey Network needed 33 days and Freysa AI 43, Sapien 78 and The Innovation Game 126. TIG's very first close on the tracker, in August 2024, came within 1.03% of the high it went on to set.
Venice is the outlier on timing too. Its CoinMarketCap history ran 602 days before it set its highest close to late October, in September 2026, and it was the only one of the five above half of its high at the late-October close.
Against Ether's drop of about half from its August 2025 high close, the four deep fallers lost between 33 and 46 percentage points more and Venice lost 27 points less.
Method: each highest close is the largest daily close in the coin's full CoinMarketCap history, from its first day on the tracker to the late-October close. The distance below it is one minus the late-October close divided by that high, and Ether's series starts on 1 May 2023.
Check: CoinGecko's daily closes for the year to late October 2026 put the late-October closes of Venice and Sapien 24.24% and 83.76% under highs set on the same days. Phemex's own ETHUSDT closes since February 2024 also put Ether's highest on 22 August 2025, with the late-October close 51.17% under it.
What Are the Risks of Base Ecosystem Coins?
-
One coin is most of the value. Venice made up about 95% of the five coins' combined CoinGecko market cap at the late-October close. A buyer who held these Base ecosystem coins in proportion to their value would mostly own Venice.
-
Thin trading. CoinMarketCap counted less than $500,000 of trading in TIG and in FAI on the day of the late-October close. Base chain coins that thin can move a long way on a single large order.
Which Base Coins Are on Phemex?
Venice Token trades on Phemex as the VVV/USDT spot pair and the VVVUSDT perpetual, which came back on 11 September 2026 after an August 2026 delisting notice. That notice, dated 10 August 2026, had closed the perpetual three days later.
For more on the token itself, Phemex Academy explains what Venice Token is and how to trade it.
Sapien's SAPIENUSDT perpetual and SAPIEN/USDT spot pair are both delisted, under notices of 5 and 19 August 2026.
The Innovation Game, Mey Network and Freysa AI have no perpetual or order-book spot pair on Phemex.
Futures use leverage, and a leveraged position is closed automatically if losses reach its margin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Base Chain Built on Ethereum?
Yes. Base is an Ethereum layer 2, and the network's GitHub repository describes it as a rollup built on Ethereum. A Base node needs an Ethereum node beside it, because a rollup posts its transaction data to Ethereum's main chain.
How Do You Buy Coins on Base Chain?
You need a wallet connected to the Base network and an app or exchange that lists the coin you want. Check its contract address against the one the project publishes, the way Freysa prints FAI's address on its framework site, so you don't buy a copy.
What Are the Top Base Chain Coins in 2026?
This page's screen picks Venice Token and The Innovation Game first, then Mey Network, Freysa AI and Sapien. Venice led at $1.18 billion on CoinGecko at the late-October close, almost 59 times the value of TIG in second place.
Which Base Chain Tokens Fell Furthest From Their Highs?
Of the five coins on this list, Freysa AI fell furthest, closing late October 97.50% under its January 2025 high on CoinMarketCap. Mey Network was 88.32% down, The Innovation Game 85.88% and Sapien 83.90%. Venice Token was the shallowest at 24.16%, against Ether's 51.20%.
Bottom Line
Every coin on this list that fell more than 80% set its highest close within its first few months on CoinMarketCap. Venice set its own high more than a year and a half into that history, with a token that holders stake for daily use of its AI.
For 2026, that makes two things worth checking on any Base coin before its price. How old is the high, and what does the token do?
