Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company will gradually reduce Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas around mid-2027 to free up manufacturing capacity for increased Cybercab output. The decision marks a strategic pivot toward Tesla’s autonomous robotaxi program, though Musk did not specify whether the Cybertruck line would be relocated or permanently shut down.
Cybertruck chief engineer Wes Morrill emphasized that the vehicle served as a critical technology validation platform and noted that its engineering principles will carry forward into the Cybercab. Existing Cybertruck owners will continue to receive spare parts and after-sales support despite the production reduction.
