Meta Platforms has acquired Swedish AI startup Stilla.ai to accelerate development of Meta Business Agent, its AI tool for helping merchants interact with customers and complete transactions across WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Stilla.ai, founded in 2024 and based in Stockholm, emerged from stealth in January after raising $5 million in pre-seed funding. Its team and technology will be integrated into Meta following the deal. The acquisition supports Meta’s push to embed AI deeper into its messaging commerce infrastructure. More than 1 million businesses currently use Business Agent for customer interactions, and Meta also plans to expand its operations in Sweden after the transaction.
