Litecoin has addressed a zero-day vulnerability in its MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB) privacy layer that allowed attackers to exploit unpatched nodes. The flaw enabled invalid transactions to be verified, leading to a denial-of-service (DoS) attack on mining pools and the transfer of funds to third-party decentralized exchanges (DEXs). The network responded by reorganizing approximately 13 blocks to roll back the invalid transactions, ensuring that legitimate transactions remained unaffected. The vulnerability has been patched, and the network is now operating normally.
