Intel has agreed to acquire Israeli quantum computing startup Classiq Technologies in a deal expected to close in the first half of 2027. The transaction price remains undisclosed. Classiq, which has raised over $200 million and employs approximately 130 people, provides software that enables customers to write code testable and runnable on any type of quantum hardware. Its client roster includes BMW and AT&T.
The acquisition aims to strengthen Intel's quantum hardware R&D capabilities and simplify product deployment on quantum computers. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan stated that partnering with Classiq will transform Intel's quantum computing unit into a full-stack quantum computing company. Post-acquisition, Classiq will continue supporting multi-hardware code development, including for competitors' systems. This move builds on Intel's decade-long effort to leverage its silicon manufacturing advantages in quantum computing, particularly focusing on spin qubit technology.
