Anthropic has launched Cyber Mission, a new cybersecurity initiative targeting critical infrastructure and open-source software security. The program's first phase provides Claude models, on-site engineers, and threat research support to 11 security service providers including Accenture, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, and PwC for defending power grids, water supply systems, and transportation networks. The initiative also introduces OSS Scanner, a free vulnerability scanning tool for selected open-source projects that delivers remediation recommendations. Anthropic expects the scanner to achieve a true positive rate exceeding 90%, aiming to strengthen security across the open-source ecosystem without cost to maintainers.
