Ting-Wei "Willy" Sun, a former contractor for Super Micro Computer, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to conspiring to illegally export advanced AI servers to China. Sun admitted to participating in a scheme that violated U.S. export control laws by routing approximately $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia-powered servers through Southeast Asian intermediaries.
U.S. prosecutors charged Sun in March alongside Super Micro co-founder Yih-Shyan "Wally" Liaw and two others for orchestrating the illicit transfers.
