The U.S. Justice Department said it has seized about $560,000 in cryptocurrency tied to Hamas and taken control of websites and servers used by the group for fundraising. The agency said the crypto assets were seized through three search warrants in 2025, including an initial action that recovered about $200,000 from wallets linked to Hamas' military wing, the Qassam Brigades.
Authorities said the fundraising network has moved more than $1.5 million since October 2024. In 2026, the Justice Department also took over the domain and servers for Hamas' main website, Alqassam.ps, through two additional search warrants. The FBI said the operation gave investigators access to information on thousands of people who donated to Hamas through cryptocurrency or traditional channels.
