Cryptocurrency payment firm Truther is set to introduce a non-custodial USDT Visa card in El Salvador on January 29. This innovative card allows users to spend directly from their self-custody wallets, eliminating the need for pre-funding or custodial services. The card, which was announced at the Brazil Blockchain Conference, deducts funds in real-time from Truther’s self-custody wallet at the point of purchase, applying a 2% currency conversion fee without an IOF tax for Brazilian users.
The card is built on the Polygon network and is expected to migrate to the Liquid Network for enhanced privacy. Truther's infrastructure connects stablecoins like USDT to Brazil’s PIX instant payment system, handling $40 million in daily transactions. The company also plans to expand its Swapix API to Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, and Russia, utilizing local payment systems for real-time settlements. Truther's self-custody wallet currently supports BTC, USDT, and a Brazil-real-pegged stablecoin, with plans to add more local stablecoins in early 2025.
