Stripe has partnered with Plasma to develop a multi-currency stablecoin card designed to reduce foreign exchange costs and unnecessary currency conversions for cross-border spending. The new payment solution supports fiat currencies including USD, EUR, Brazilian Real, Mexican Peso, and Colombian Peso, alongside stablecoins such as USDC and OUSD.
The infrastructure currently covers more than 30 countries and regions, with plans to expand to over 100 markets by 2027. Stripe also intends to enable cardholders to maintain balances in multiple currencies, with the system automatically selecting the appropriate currency at the time of transaction to optimize payments.
