The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has granted final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB), enabling Ripple to operate a federally supervised national trust bank in the United States. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the decision on X late Monday, marking the culmination of an application process that began in July 2025 and received conditional approval in December before this final sign-off.
RNTB will manage the reserves backing Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin and provide regulated custody services for institutional clients engaged in payments, trading, and treasury management. The charter reinforces Ripple's strategy of integrating digital assets into traditional financial infrastructure, with Garlinghouse stating the license provides a "stronger foundation" for scaling institutional products across capital markets.
