OpenAI has established an independent "Mathematics and AI Advisory Group" hosted by the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton to evaluate breakthroughs from its latest internal model. The company states that the new model, trained since August 28, has solved more than 100 long-standing open problems across multiple mathematical fields, including the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem. The nine-member panel includes prominent mathematicians Timothy Gowers, Martin Hairer, and Edward Witten, who will assess the significance of findings and coordinate publication schedules. The group operates independently without compensation from OpenAI and holds no decision-making authority over the company's research pace or direction.
