Crypto lottery platform Megapot has secured $5 million in a funding round led by Dragonfly, with contributions from Coinbase Ventures, Bankless Ventures, and notable founders from FanDuel, Betfair, and MyPrize. Built on Ethereum's Layer 2 network Base, Megapot allows users in over 150 countries to purchase $1 lottery tickets, settling prizes in stablecoins. The platform, which has already awarded 19 major winners, aims to use the new funds to expand into additional international markets.
Megapot's latest version, launched on Tuesday, generates revenue through ticket processing fees and offers higher jackpots and better odds compared to traditional lotteries. Despite its global reach, the platform remains unavailable in approximately 30 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. The company currently operates with a team of seven employees.
