Two residents of Massachusetts have been defrauded of nearly $7,000 in a Bitcoin ATM scam involving fake jury duty calls. The scammers posed as law enforcement officials, threatening the victims with arrest unless they made payments through local Bitcoin ATMs. The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed these incidents and emphasized that legitimate authorities do not request immediate cryptocurrency payments. According to FBI data, Bitcoin ATM scams resulted in $247 million in losses for victims in 2024.
