Interactive Brokers has launched 24/7 stablecoin funding, allowing clients to deposit stablecoins at any time to fund brokerage accounts. This new service, announced on January 15, enables near-instant processing and continuous availability, including weekends and holidays, thus reducing reliance on traditional bank wire schedules. The initiative aims to enhance market access for international investors by cutting cross-border transaction costs and delays.
The brokerage currently supports USDC deposits, which are automatically converted into US dollars upon receipt. Interactive Brokers plans to expand support to include Ripple coin (RLUSD) and Paypal’s coin (PYUSD) next week. While the firm does not charge fees for stablecoin deposits, a 0.30% conversion fee is applied by Zerohash. This move marks a significant step in integrating digital assets into mainstream brokerage services, offering a lower-cost, always-on alternative to traditional funding methods.
