Ripple's RLUSD to Revolutionize Ghana's MSME Payments and Tax System
Ghana is set to transform its micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) payments landscape with a new blockchain-based settlement infrastructure powered by Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin. Trident Digital Tech Holdings Ltd. (TDTH), in collaboration with Ripple Strategy Holding, is spearheading this initiative to enhance transaction efficiency, simplify tax reporting, and improve liquidity access for MSMEs. The partnership aims to integrate Ripple's blockchain payment rails across Africa, strengthening TDTH's Trident Africa Technology Initiatives.
The new system will onboard approximately 2.1 million MSMEs in Ghana, enabling real-time tax calculation and remittance directly to government accounts. This initiative seeks to formalize informal trade and ease compliance for entrepreneurs outside traditional banking networks. RLUSD, verified by Deloitte for its full reserve backing and 1:1 dollar peg, is gaining traction as a stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, offering faster, lower-cost cross-border payments. This project could significantly reshape public revenue systems and MSME commerce in Africa, positioning Ghana as a leader in next-generation financial infrastructure.
