F2Pool co-founder and Stakefish founder Chun Wang responded to a lawsuit filed by Oleksii Trofimchuk against Lido Finance and Stakefish on September 8 in the Superior Court of Santa Clara County. The lawsuit alleges that after Trofimchuk’s wallet was compromised, competing MEV bots submitted high-priority fee transactions to claim ETH.
Chun said Stakefish, as a validator, only packages legitimate transactions under Ethereum protocol rules and cannot adjudicate off-chain ownership or competing asset claims. He warned that requiring protocol-compliant validators to recover rewards based on off-chain claims would create legal uncertainty for staking rewards and harm Ethereum’s decentralization and credible neutrality.
