Akamai Technologies has secured a seven-year, $11.6 billion contract commitment from Anthropic to support the AI company's expanding CPU workload demands. The agreement leverages Akamai’s distributed cloud infrastructure and software, marking a significant expansion of the existing partnership between the internet infrastructure provider and the AI developer. The deal includes provisions for substantial future growth, allowing for up to an additional $9 billion in expansion. This brings the potential total value of the commitment to approximately $20 billion as Anthropic scales its computational requirements through Akamai's distributed network.
