A security breach on Ethereum's Alephium TokenBridge resulted in the theft of $815,000 within seven minutes, as discovered by blockchain security firm Blockaid. The exploit involved the compromise of three out of four guardian keys, which were used to sign forged Verified Action Approvals (VAAs). This allowed attackers to fabricate bridge messages and mint 13.76 million wrapped ALPH without depositing any real ALPH.
The attack also led to the unauthorized release of Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and Wrapped Ether (WETH). The incident mirrors previous exploits, such as the Wormhole Bridge and Verus-Ethereum bridge attacks, highlighting ongoing vulnerabilities in cross-chain bridge security.
