The U.S. Commerce Department is negotiating with several quantum computing companies to exchange equity for funding initially allocated by the Trump administration, according to WSJ. The department plans to distribute a total of $2 billion among nine quantum computing firms. IBM is set to receive $1 billion, while chip manufacturer GlobalFoundries will obtain $375 million. Publicly traded companies such as D-Wave Quantum, Rigetti Computing, and Infleqtion are each expected to receive $100 million. Additionally, startup Diraq is anticipated to secure $38 million.
