Ethereum’s Glamsterdam testnet is processing nearly 200 million gas per block following a major capacity upgrade. During a six-minute voting period, all 32 scheduled blocks were proposed with 99.97% of eligible stake voting toward finality, according to ethPandaOps data.
The upgrade restructures block production by formalizing the handoff between transaction assemblers and validators, enabling parallel transaction verification through pre-fetched account data. Gas costs for data storage and access have been adjusted, requiring developers to retest applications dependent on specific gas assumptions.
The Hoodi public testnet is tentatively scheduled for October 27 pending Sepolia results, while no mainnet activation date has been set.
