XRP Ledger has released version xrpld 3.4.1 to fix a critical integer overflow vulnerability in its payment engine that could have allowed attackers to mint unlimited XRP. The flaw, which may have existed since 2015, enabled the creation of XRP through specially crafted offers and payments while bypassing built-in security checks designed to prevent unauthorized minting.
Researchers reported the vulnerability via the bug bounty program on September 22, prompting the release of the patched version just three days later on September 25. No evidence of exploitation has been detected on the network to date.
