Fraudsters are exploiting minors' consumer habits and psychological traits by advertising 'free skins' and 'paid game boosting' on online games and social platforms, according to the Ministry of Public Security's Criminal Investigation Bureau. These criminals use 'SMS receiving platforms' to mass-register social accounts, masking their activities. After victims send money, the funds are quickly laundered through well-organized channels. The laundered money is split and withdrawn via merchant payment codes and personal bank accounts, ultimately purchasing cryptocurrency to fund overseas scam operations. Besides gaming transactions, fan support activities and second-hand shopping are also major targets of such scams. Authorities warn that law enforcement agencies will never conduct investigations online or request passwords or verification codes, urging parents to secure their mobile payment passwords.
