A joint survey by the DeFi Education Fund and Ipsos reveals a significant gap between general support for financial innovation and specific backing for crypto-focused political candidates. While 35% of U.S. respondents believe politicians should support next-generation financial technology, only 13% explicitly favor candidates who advocate for blockchain, cryptocurrency, and DeFi development.
The data highlights broad dissatisfaction with traditional finance but limited familiarity with decentralized alternatives. 74% of respondents agree that the financial system needs reform to give individuals more control over their assets, yet only 9% reported being very or extremely familiar with cryptocurrency, and just 5% expressed high trust in decentralized platforms. Among those interested in DeFi adoption, savings and domestic transfers were cited as primary use cases rather than speculation. Crypto ownership increased by 4 percentage points year-over-year, while active usage remained flat at 13%.
Survey: Only 13% of Americans Support Candidates Advocating for Crypto and DeFi Development
