SpaceX has announced that Chun Wang, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency world, will join its first crewed mission to Mars. Wang, known for co-founding F2Pool, one of the largest Bitcoin mining pools, will embark on a two-year mission aboard Starship, which includes a flyby of Mars. Prior to this, Wang will participate in a commercial flight around the Moon to test Starship's deep-space capabilities.
In a separate disclosure, SpaceX's recent S-1 filing revealed the company holds 18,712 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $1.45 billion as of March 31. This holding, acquired at a cost basis of $35,320 per BTC, highlights SpaceX's significant investment in cryptocurrency, with Bitcoin's current price near $77,300 indicating substantial unrealized gains.
