Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eog-weon directed institutions to complete thorough internal reviews and report findings promptly after an emergency meeting with industry executives on Sunday.
Preliminary investigations indicate attackers targeted external websites with weaker monitoring, as well as servers used by loan agents and employees. Regulators have not ruled out the use of artificial intelligence in the attacks and are urging the industry to accelerate deployment of AI-powered defense systems.
