Jump Crypto has introduced a 1 SOL fee for Solana bug report submissions to combat a surge of low-quality findings driven by AI-generated spam. The backlog of open reports peaked at 299, with approximately 80% of duplicate submissions arriving more than three days after the original report was filed. Engineers were forced to spend significant time reproducing and validating speculative attacks that often overlooked existing protections in the software.
The new pricing model, combined with a 3,000-character limit per report section, aims to discourage mass submissions of unverified findings while ensuring critical vulnerabilities receive proper attention. Despite the increased friction, Jump's security program has uncovered serious issues, including a scheduling error in Firedancer that could cause transaction ordering discrepancies and network state disagreements among validators.
To offset the submission cost, Jump is simultaneously raising reward payouts. Eligible findings now receive twice the standard bounty through November 20, with triple rewards for bugs specific to Alpenglow, Solana's new voting system. Critical Alpenglow vulnerabilities can qualify for payouts up to $300,000.
