Singapore Police have warned that at least two cases involving tampered Ledger hardware wallets purchased at local retail stores have resulted in combined losses of approximately S$3.5 million since September 10. Preliminary investigations revealed that the compromised devices contained malicious hardware components capable of stealing users' seed phrases or private keys and moving assets without detection.
Authorities have contacted Ledger, which is reviewing the cases as investigations continue. Police advised affected users to immediately stop using suspected tampered devices, generate new seed phrases on unaffected hardware, and transfer remaining assets. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao shared the warning on X, urging Singapore-based users to exercise heightened caution.
