Russia's Ministry of Energy has classified cryptocurrency miners under the fourth power supply reliability category, permitting authorities to disconnect them from the grid at any time without prior negotiation. This classification applies when miners connect to the power network and enables direct disconnection by officials without advance warning or discussion. The fourth reliability category was established by government decision in February to allow technical connections in regions experiencing energy shortages where mining is otherwise prohibited. The Ministry of Energy stated this measure allows effective utilization of existing energy infrastructure while ensuring power supply reliability for residential consumers remains uncompromised.
