A report released August 28 by nonprofit consumer advocacy group Public Citizen estimated that five categories of Trump-related crypto products have caused investors at least $4.7 billion in unrealized losses. The group said most of the losses have not yet been realized.
Public Citizen attributed roughly $3.2 billion of the estimated losses to the TRUMP meme coin, at least $1 billion to WLFI governance tokens, about $450 million to the Trump Media digital asset treasury, and at least $9.3 million to Trump Digital Trading Card NFTs. The USD1 stablecoin was not included in the calculation. The report said TRUMP meme coin losses reflected a transfer of wealth to a small number of early buyers more than value simply disappearing.
The report also cited Trump’s financial disclosure filed in June 2026, saying he received at least $1.4 billion from crypto businesses in 2025. The White House has previously said the president and his family have never been and will never be involved in conflicts of interest.
