Polymarket has investigated dozens of trades linked to the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, with at least two cases referred to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), according to NPR. Shana Bautista, Polymarket's global head of intelligence and investigations, disclosed the findings ahead of the November 3 vote.
Bautista, a former FBI agent who joined Polymarket in June, now leads a 16-person team operating a newly launched election monitoring system. The platform integrates data from social media, Federal Election Commission records, crypto companies, and banking partners, generating hundreds of alerts daily. Despite Polymarket's international version permitting anonymous cryptocurrency trading, Bautista stated the team successfully identified the likely trader in every case handled.
