The hacker behind the Mercado Bitcoin breach has swapped stolen tokens for approximately $10.55 million in Ether, according to on-chain tracking by Arkham Intelligence. The transactions were routed through MetaMask wallets as asset-blocking efforts remain underway.
Chainalysis noted that Ethereum is more difficult to disrupt compared to stablecoins, which issuers can freeze directly. This distinction complicates recovery attempts as the attacker continues moving funds across decentralized infrastructure.
