Bank Negara Malaysia announced the launch of SSDS+, a platform for issuing, custodying, and safekeeping tokenized bonds and Islamic bonds (Sukuk). Developed in-house using cloud technology and distributed ledger technology, the platform supports both wholesale market issuance and tokenized retail bond issuance by government and corporates.
SSDS+ is integrated with the RENTAS+ system to enable round-the-clock payment and settlement. The two systems work in tandem: SSDS+ manages transfer and ownership records of tokenized securities, while RENTAS+ completes the transfer of corresponding bond purchase funds in central bank money.
