Japan has imposed additional sanctions on Russia, targeting groups that use crypto assets to evade financial restrictions. The government added 33 military-related entities and nine individuals to its asset freeze list, including those involved in using virtual currencies to bypass international sanctions.
The cabinet also approved a ban on providing services such as operation, maintenance, insurance, and financing to 35 vessels in Russia's "shadow fleet" used to secretly transport crude oil. These measures expand Japan's enforcement actions against sanctions evasion through both digital assets and maritime logistics networks.
