Hermes Agent, part of Nous Research's open-source AI framework, has launched a new Curator feature to manage skill lifecycle, addressing the issue of obsolete skills. Previously, Hermes Agent could only add skills, leading to a bloated skill list consuming 4,400 tokens per conversation. The Curator introduces a two-step process: skills unused for 30 days are marked as "stale," and those unused for 90 days are archived, though they remain recoverable.
Additionally, a model review occurs weekly to merge overlapping functions and update outdated content, ensuring efficient skill management. This feature, enabled by default, does not affect built-in or marketplace-installed skills and allows users to pin critical skills to prevent modification. The update, comprising 2,200 lines of code, passed all tests and was merged into the main branch on April 29, pending formal release.
