The Core network executed a hard fork on November 2 to recover approximately 68.15 million CORE tokens stolen during the October 31 incident, according to an update from Bitcoin dual staking protocol b14g. The recovery used a one-time on-chain state adjustment to transfer 68,146,177.22 CORE from three attacker-controlled addresses, representing roughly 70.2% of the 97,045,563 CORE affected in the hack.
The operation did not roll back transactions, mint new tokens, or alter the total CORE supply. However, recovered funds have not yet been distributed to affected users, and assets held or frozen by exchanges remain unreturned. b14g stated it is still verifying balances and formulating a distribution plan, with no official claims process currently available.
