Coins.ph has expanded its crypto payment options in the Philippines by integrating Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) into its QRPh checkout feature. Announced on May 19, this development allows users to pay with BTC or ETH at approximately 700,000 QRPh-enabled merchants nationwide. The app converts crypto balances into Philippine pesos in real-time, ensuring merchants receive fiat currency without requiring consumers to manually exchange assets.
This move builds on Coins.ph's previous integration of USDT payments, which saw significant transaction volumes and highlighted consumer interest in crypto-based payments. As a licensed Virtual Asset Service Provider and Electronic Money Issuer under Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas regulation, Coins.ph aims to enhance the ease of crypto transactions in a country with an estimated 15 million crypto users. CEO Wei Zhou emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, positioning it as a step towards redefining digital wallets and integrating cryptocurrencies into everyday life in the Philippines.
