The Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) has secured approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to extend trading hours for selected multi-listed equity options. Starting July 13, pre-market trading will run from 7:30 AM to 9:25 AM ET, and post-market trading will occur from 4:00 PM to 4:15 PM ET, Monday through Friday.
The initial list of eligible options includes approximately 20 highly liquid assets such as NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, Palantir, Broadcom, and AMD. To qualify, equity options must have an average daily volume exceeding 150,000 contracts over the past six months, a market capitalization over $50 billion, and an average daily stock volume of more than 10 million shares. This move aims to align equity options trading hours with those of their underlying stocks, enhancing risk management for investors during pre- and post-market events.
