Bitcoin’s purchasing power against gold rose to 18.17, the highest level since January, meaning one bitcoin can now buy slightly more than 18 ounces of gold.
Bitcoin and gold advanced in tandem as markets reacted to concerns that governments are diluting debt through currency depreciation. The report noted that, aside from Switzerland, all major developed economies now have debt-to-GDP ratios above 100%, while the United States leads in primary deficits excluding interest expenses. At the G20 finance ministers’ meeting, Treasury Secretary Bessent said “the world is awash in debt, and the only way out is to grow our way out.” SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci said the gathering “inadvertently contributed the best bitcoin ad of the year.”
